The bronze sculpture of Queen Elizabeth II is life-sized


A life-sized sculpture of Queen Elizabeth II is being unveiled at an art gallery.

The bronze sculpture at The Talos Art Gallery in Calne, Wiltshire, depicts the Queen riding her favourite horse, Burmese.

It is the second edition of the sculpture from a cast by Caroline Wallace, which was commissioned for the Platinum Jubilee.

The sculpture will remain at the gallery as part of its summer exhibition until 21 July.

The first edition of the sculpture was commissioned in November 2020 and modelled on the Queen at Trooping the Colour in 1984.

Foundry and gallery owner, Richard Atkinson-Willes, oversaw the production and installation of the first edition at Sandhurst which was unveiled by Prince Edward.

“I want to congratulate the sculptor and the foundry, I’m sure it’s been every bit as challenging a project as you can imagine,” Prince Edward said before revealing the statue.

The Talos Gallery offers the opportunity to see major commissions straight from the foundry.

Once the exhibition ends, the sculpture will move to another venue, yet to be decided.

Drake’s Toronto home the site of attempted break-in just one day after shooting, police say

  Just one day after a security guard working at rapper Drake’s Toronto home   was shot , a man on Wednesday was apprehended for attempting to enter the same residence, authorities said. Around 2 p.m. local time, officers were called to the home “after a person attempted to gain access to the property,” Ashley Visser, a media relations officer for the Toronto Police Department, told CNN in a statement on Wednesday. CNN has reached out to a representative for Drake for comment. The person was “apprehended” under Ontario’s Mental Health Act and was “taken to obtain medical assistance,” Visser’s statement read. The  Mental Health Act  allows police officers to take a person who they find reasonable cause to believe is suffering from a mental disorder, and is acting disorderly, in custody to seek medical treatment instead of issuing an arrest.
